HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-171RESOLUTION NO. 03-171 A RESOLUTION NAMING THE PROPERTY DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A" OF THIS RESOLUTION AND INCORPORATED HEREIN AS WELDON B. LEWIS PARK, IN MEMORY OF HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR FOR ST. LUCIE COUNTY FOR TWENTY-ONE (21) YEARS; HAVING HELD THAT POSITION LONGER THAN ANY OTHER COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. Mr. Weldon B. Lewis was bom on December 8, 1924 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was a decorated U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, having served in the European Theatre, 78th Infantry Division. 2. On September 12, 1948, Mr. Weldon B. Lewis married Jane Tarilton, and three sons were born from that union with two grandchildren and three great-grandsons. 3. In 1968 Mr. Lewis became St. Lucie County Administrator and held that position for twenty-one (21) years when he retired on May 13, 1989. 4. Due to twenty-one (21) years of untiring dedication by Mr. Weldon B. Lewis to the citizens of St. Lucie County as County Administrator, this Board believes that Mr. Lewis should be honored and remembered in a special way. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: 1. This Board does hereby name the property described in Exhibit "A" of this resolution and incorporated herein as WELDON B. LEWIS PARK, in memory of his outstanding service as County Administrator for St. Lucie County for twenty-one (21) years; having held that position longer than any other County Administrator in the State of Florida. 2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be presented to Mrs. Weldon B. Lewis as a token of this Board's appreciation and gratitude for her husband's commitment, not only as a recognized and respected County Administrator, but also as a great Gentleman and Friend to so many. All that part of the west ~/2 of the south ½ of the northwest 1/4 of the northwest 1/4 of Section 3, Township 36 South, Range 40 East, All lying north of the existing drainage ditch; excepting therefrom the north 225 feet, less the east 288.37 feet of the south 40.00 feet of said north 225.00 feet and less all rights of way for drainage canal and public roads, all lying in St. Lucie County, Florida. Containing 4.79 acres (C), more or less. BALLFIELDS Including that portion of the east ½ of lot 9, lying north of said existing drainage ditch. Containing 7.34 acres, more or less.
