HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-193F,Je RESOLUTION NO. 04-193 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. DIANE J. WALGREN ON OVER FOURTEEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS EMPLOYEE AND ADMINISTRATOR OF THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. Diane Walgren was born on July 1, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to St. Lucie County in 1997 after living throughout the United States and abroad, and commuting from Martin County from 1990 to 1997. 2. Diane has been married to Ken Walgren for thirty-four years and two children were born of this union; daughter Virginia (Ginny) and son Scott. 3. Diane and her husband Ken have a grandson, Sean, and are awaiting their second and third grandchildren which are due in the months of September and October. 4. In 1967 Mrs. Diane Walgren majored in Nursing and Minored in Psychology at the University of Illinois and also received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing that same year. In 1970 Mrs. Walgren majored in Community Health Nursing and Minored in Psychology; and received her Master of Science Degree from the University of Colorado. 5. Mrs. Diane J. Walgren, in her capacity as County Health Administrator, has worked with many organizations for St. Lucie County which include the Treasure Coast Advisory Council, the School Readiness Coalition of St. Lucie County, Diabetes Coalition of St. Lucie County, Tobacco Free Partnership of St. Lucie County, Weed & Seed of St. Lucie County Steering Committee, Work Force Development Board of the Treasure Coast, and Healthy Start Coalition of St. Lucie County, just to mention a few. 6. Mrs. Walgren has worked in St. Lucie County from 1990 where she was Senior Community Nursing Supervisor; from 1991-1994 as a Nursing Director; from 1994 - 1996 as a Community Health Nursing Consultant; and from 1996 to the present as Administrator of the St. Lucie County Health Department. 7. During her tenure as County Health Administrator, Mrs. Walgren's department won numerous Davis Productivity Awards from Florida Tax Watch and Florida Council of 100 for efficiency, economy, and innovation in government. 8. Mrs. Walgren will be retiring August 5, 2004, and will be sorely missed by her constituents and citizens of St. Lucie County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida that this Board does hereby commend Mrs. Diane J. Walgren for her more than fourteen years of outstanding service as employee and Administrator with the St. Lucie County Health Department, and does hereby express its sincere appreciation and gratitude for a job well done. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be presented to Mrs. Diane J. Walgren as a token of this Boards appreciation. PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 13th day of July, 2004.
