A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF
APRIL, 2001, AS "FAIR HOUSING MONTH" IN ST.
LUC1E COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, bas made
the following determ'mations:
1. Thirty years ago the Congress of the United States passed one of its most far-reaching
laws governing equal rights for minorities in this country, the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which
included Tire VII, the Fair Housing Law, for guaranteed equal housing opportunity for all citizens.
2. As an individual, and as a people, it is imperative that we take a stand to make equal
housing opportunities for all a reality.
3. The primary action lies with each individual citizen of St. Lucie County, and each of us.
can play a major role in removing the stain of discrimination and prejudice.
4. This Board is fully committed to providing its citizens with equal opportunity housing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby procla'un the month of April, 2001, as "FAIR HOUSING
MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board urges the citizens o£St. Lucie County to take a stand to make equal housing
opportunities for all a reality.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 17th day of April, 2001.
