WHEREAS, the Mayor of the Town of 5t. Lucia Village has made the following
determinations:
1. Pursuant to 5action 870.042, Florida Statutes, the Mayor has the power to
declare a state of emergency within the Town of St. Lucia Village to provide for the health and
safety of persons and property and to exercise the emergency powers conferred in 5actions
870.041 - 870.047, Florida Statutes.
2. The National Hurricane Center has identified Hurricane ,Teanne os a Category 2
hurricane and has issued a Hurricane Warning for the east coast of Florida, including St. Lucia
County.
3. The presence of Hurricane ,Teonne has placed the Town of St. Lucia Village in a
state of emergency, exposing the citizens thereof to the threat of imminent violence and to
danger to life and property.
4. In order to respond to such emergency, upon this declaration, the Mayor is
authorized to initiate and take such actions authorized by state law during the term of such
local state of emergency.
5. A state of emergency is declared in the Town of St. Lucie Village effective
immediately upon signing thi~'~ day of September 2004, atT'.cYJ .~L.m.
6. Such Declaration shall remain in full force and effect for seventy-two (72)
hours unless extended in seventy-two (72) hour increments with the concurrence of the Board
of Aldermen or sooner rescinded by the Board of Aldermen, the Governor or the Mayor.
7. This Declaration shall, as promptly as practicable, be filed in the office of the
Village and delivered to the appropriate news media for publication and radio and television
broadcast thereof.
