PUBLIC SAFETY DTRECTOR DECLARIN6 A
STATE OF LOCAL EMER6ENCY
(HURI~CANE FRANCES)
WHEREAS, the St. Lucia County Public Safety Director has made the following
determinations:
1. The Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucia County has adopted
Resolution No. 00-277 authorizing the County Administrator and the Public Safety
Director to exercise certain emergency powers and authority during a local emergency.
2. The National Hurricane Center has identified Hurricane Frances os a
Category 4 hurricane and has issued a Hurricane Warning for the east coast of Florida,
including St. Lucia County.
3. The presence of Hurricane Frances has placed St. Lucia County in a state of
emergency, exposing the citizens thereof to danger to life and property.
4. In order to respond to such emergency, upon this declaration, the County
Administrator or his designee is authorized to initiate and take such actions authorized by
Resolution 00-?77 for and on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners during the
term of such local state of emergency.
5. Such declaration shall remain in full force and effect for seven (7) days
unless extended in seventy-two (72) hour increments with the concurrence of the Board of
County Commissioners or sooner rescinded by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
Lucia County or the County Administrator.
6. This Declaration shall become effective immediately upon signing this tst
