EXTENDI'N6 THE STATE OF LOCAL EMER6ENC¥
(HURRI'CANE FRANCES)
WHEREAS, the Public Safety Director has made the following determinations:
1. The Board has adopted Resolution No. 00-277 authorizing the County Administrator
and the Public Safety Director to exercise certain emergency powers and authority during a local
emergency.
2. The County's Public Safety Director declared a state of emergency on September l,
2004, at 4:00 p.m. due to Hurricane Frances.
3. On September 9, 2004, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucia County,
Florida, adopted Resolution No. 04-266 which extended the declaration of emergency until
September 15, 2004 at 4:00 p.m.
4. On September 14, 2004, the Public Safety Director extended the declaration of
emergency until September 22, 2004 at 4:00 p.m.
5. On September 22, 2004, the Public Safety Director extended the declaration of
emergency until September 2c), 2004 at 4:00 p.m.
6. On October 5, 2004, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucia County, Florida,
adopted Resolution No. 04-287 which extended the declaration of emergency until October 13, 2004
at 4:00 p.m.
7. The effect of Hurricane Frances has placed St. Lucia County in a state of emergency,
exposing the citizens thereof to danger to life and property.
8. In order to respond to such emergency, upon this third extension, the County
Administrator or his designee is authorized to initiate and take such actions authorized by Resolution
00-277 for and on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners during the term of such local state
of emergency.
9. Such declaration is extended for seven (7) days until October 20, 2004 at 4:00 p.m.
unless sooner rescinded by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucia County or the County
Administrator.
This Extension of the Declaration of Emergency shall become effective October 13,
2004 at 4:00 p.m.
