RESOLUTION NO. 05- 165
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL 22,2005,
AS "VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DAY" IN ST.
LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has
made the following determinations:
1. The entire community can effect positive change with any volunteer
action no matter how big or small, and can connect with local community service
opportunities through hundreds of community service organizations and
government entities.
2. Millions of volunteers working in communities utilize their time and talent
daily to make a real difference in the lives of children, adults and the elderly.
3. During the week of April 17. 2005, through April 23, 2005, all over the
nation, service projects will be performed and volunteers recognized for their
commitment to service.
4. The giving of oneself in service to another empowers the giver and the
recipient.
5. Experience teaches us that government by itself cannot solve all of our
nation's social problems. Our country's volunteer force of over 64 million people
is a great national treasure; and our county's volunteers are among the best in the
nation.
6. St. Lucie County volunteers are extremely vital to our future as a caring
and productive County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
st. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim April 22, 2005, as "VOLUNTEER
APPRECIATION DAY" in st. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board urges the citizens of St. Lucie County to volunteer and "light the
way" in their respective communities.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 19th day of April, 2005.
