RESOLUTION NO. 05- 171
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. HENRY
DEAN FOR HIS ALMOST FOUR (4) YEARS OF
CONTINUOUS SERVICE AS EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTH FLORIDA WATER
MANAGEMENT DISTRICT; AND HIS SEVENTEEN
(17) YEARS OF CONTINUOUS SERVICE AS
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE ST. JOHNS
RIVER WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT, AS HE
OFFICIALLY RETIRES ON JUNE 1, 2005
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has
made the following determinations:
1. Mr. Henry Dean was an attorney in private practice from 1978 to 1979;
and served as General Counsel for the Florida Department of Natural Resources
from 1979 to 1984.
2. In 1984, Mr. Dean joined the Sf. Johns River Water Management District
where he served as Executive Director for seventeen (17) years.
3. On July 11, 2001 Mr. Dean joined the South Florida Water
Management District, and in 2004, he celebrated a leadership feat no one else can
claim ... twenty (20) years of continuous service as an Executive Director of a Florida
Water Management District.
4. Mr. Dean holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the
University of Iowa and a law degree from Florida State University. He is a member
of the Interstate Council on Water Policy, serving as chairman in 1997 and 1998. He
is also a member of the American Water Resources Association and the Florida A
& M University Center for the Water Quality Advisory Council.

5. Mr. Dean served on the Advisory Council for the Florida Conflict
Resolution Consortium; and was also named "2004 Regional Leader" by the South
Florida Regional Resource Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Sf. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby commend Mr. Henry Dean on his twenty (20)
years of continuous service as Executive Director of a Florida Water Management
District.
2. This Board does hereby further recognize the dedication, loyalty, and
outstanding assistance and support Mr. Henry Dean has provided Sf. Lucie County,
and further congratulates Mr. Dean on a job well done.
3. A copy of this resolution shall be presented to Mr. Henry Dean as a
token of this Board's thanks and appreciation.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 19th day of April. 2005.
