RESOLUTION NO. 05-252
A RESOLUTION CREATING THE ST. LUCIE
COUNTY ATTAINABLE HOUSING TASK
FORCE AND PROVIDING FOR ITS
MEMBERSHIP, DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
the following determinations:
1. Policy 5.1 of the St. Lucie County Comprehensive Plan recognizes a goal of
providing housing resources for all citizens through publiclprivate cooperative arrangements.
2. Policy 5.2 ofthe St. Lucie County Comprehensive Plan further recognizes a goal of
providing an adequate mix of safe and sanitary housing which meets the needs of existing and future
County residents.
3. As the result of a dramatic escalation in housing prices, including rental rates, within
the County over the past several years, attainable housing is now beyond the reach of many County
residents.
4. This Board should create the Attainable Housing Task Force ("Task Force") for
the purpose of exploring and recommending a variety of housing solutions to the Board.
5. This Board should further define the membership, duties and functions of the
Task Force.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners
of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby create the St. Lucie County Attainable Housing Task
Force and directs it to investigate and recommend attainable housing solutions to the Board.
2. The actions, decisions, and recommendations of the Task Force shall not be
final or binding on the Board but shall be advisory only.
3. The Task Force shall consist of fifteen (15) members of the community appointed
to represent the following:
A. Private Developer
B. Realtor
C. Financial Institution
D. Habitat for Humanity of St. Lucie County, Inc.
E. Non-Profit Housing Developer
F. Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council, Inc.

G. Indiantown Non-Profit Housing, Inc.
H. Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council - Appointed by the Council
1. Workforce Development Board of the Treasure Coast - Appointed by the
Workforce Development Board
J. Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County - Appointed by the
Council
K. Fort Pierce Housing Authority - Appointed by the Authority
L. St. Lucie County School Board - Appointed by the School Board
1. City of Fort Pierce - Appointed by the City
K. City of Port St. Lucie - Appointed by the City
O. St. Lucie County Community Services Department - Appointed by the
County Administrator
Individuals interested in serving on the Task Force will be required to submit an
. Application for serving on St. Lucie County Boards and Committees. All members will serve
without compensation. The Community Services Department will act in an advisory nature for
administrative and technical support for the Task Force and to keep a record of its
proceedings.
4. Vacancies for all members appointed shall be filled upon:
A. Death of a member
B. Resignation
C. Removal by appointing authority
D. Three (3) unexcused absences in a SiX (6) month period
Vacancies shall be filled by th~ official or entity which appointed the member
who held the vacant seat.
5. The Task Force will determine its own chair and establish a time and place
for holding meetings and the Task Force shall adopt such rules of organization and procedure
as may be required.
6. Individuals interested in serving on the Task Force will be required to submit an
Application for serving on St. Lucie County Boards and Committees.
7. The Task Force shall hold its first meeting as soon as possible from the date this
resolution is adopted.
8. If any action, sentence, or clause of this resolution is held to be invalid or
unconstitutional by any Court of competent jurisdiction then said holding shall in no way
effect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.
