Resolution 05-249
A RESOLUTION BY S1. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO ENTER INTO AN URBAN AND COMMUNITY
FORESTRY GRANT MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA,
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES, DIVISION OF FORESTRY.
WHEREAS, trees, conservation lands and the environment are important parts of our community.
WHEREAS, S1. Lucie County desires to apply for an Urban and Community Forestry Grant which would
provide monies to help fund the removal of exotic invasives at Vitolo Park conservation area.
WHEREAS, S1. Lucie County wishes to enter into an Urban and Community Forestry Grant Memorandum
of Agreement between S1. Lucie County and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer
Services.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE S1. LUCIE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS:
Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners supports the removal of exotic invasives from Vitolo Park
conservation area, the reconnection of the marsh and the Indian River Lagoon, and the restoration of the
historic wetland hydrology and filtering function of the 168-acre mangrove marsh.
Section 2. The Board of County Commissioners authorizes the Chairman to enter into an Urban and
Community Forestry Grant Memorandum of Agreement between S1. Lucie County and the Florida
Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Section 3. The Board of County Commissioners authorizes the Chairman to enter into an Urban and
Community Forestry Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement between 81. Lucie County and the Florida
Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
