LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO ENTER INTO AN URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES, DIVISION OF FORESTRY. WHEREAS, trees, conservation, the environment and beautification are important parts of our community. WHEREAS, St. Lucie County desires to apply for an Urban and Community Forestry Grant, which would provide replacement trees to private homeowners to assist the County in its goal of replacing the tree canopy that was seriously damaged during the 2004 hurricanes. WHEREAS, St. Lucie County wishes to enter into an Urban and Community Forestry Grant Memorandum of Agreement between St. Lucie County and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS: Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners supports St. Lucie County's Adopt-Tree Program to provide trees to private homeowners and especially to provide replacement trees to private homeowners who lost trees during the September, 2004 hurricanes. Section 2. The Board of County Commissioners authorizes the Chairman to enter into an Urban and Community Forestry Grant Memorandum of Agreement between St. Lucie County and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
