A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING NOVEMBER 6,
2005, THROUGH NOVEMBER 12, 2005, AS
"VETERANS AWARENESS WEEK" IN ST.
LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. On June 28, 2005, the United States 109th Congress, 1st
Session, passed Senate Resolution 155, designating the week of
November 6, 2005, through November 12, 2005, as National Veterans
Awareness Week.
The resolution calls for educational efforts
directed at elementary and secondary school students concerning the
contributions and sacrifices of veterans.
2. National Veterans Awareness Week is meant to complement
Veterans Day by focusing on education as well as commemoration, on
the contributions of the many, in addition to the heroism and
service of the individual.
3. Tens of millions of Americans have served in the Armed
Forces of the United States during the past century and hundreds of
thousands of Americans have given their lives during that time.
4. The contributions and sacrifices of the men and women who
served in the Armed Forces have been vi tal in maintaining the
freedoms and way of life enjoyed by the people of the United
States.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the week of November 6,
2005, through November 12, 2005, as "VETERANS AWARENESS WEEK" in
St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board extends its' appreciation to each and every
United States military man and woman for admirably fighting or and
maintaining our freedoms, and urges the citizens of St. Lucie
County to honor the commitment of our Veterans - past, present, and
future.
