A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AND ENDORSING AN
AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 2001-326, LAWS OF FLORIDA,
TO PROVIDE THAT THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES FOR THE RUPERT J. SMITH LAW LIBRARY OF
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, AN INDEPENDENT DISTRICT, BE
INCREASED FROM THREE (3) MEMBERS TO FIVE (5)
MEMBERS, INCLUDING A NEW MEMBER ON BEHALF OF
THE PORT ST. LUCIE BAR ASSOCIATION, AND A SECOND
ADDITIONAL MEMBER TO BE APPOINTED BY THE
FRIENDS OF THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY LIBRARY
ASSOCIATION, INC.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
the following determinations:
1. The Board of Trustees of the Rupert J. Smith Law Library of St. Lucie County
is requesting the local legislative delegation to support an amendment to Chapter 2001-326,
Laws of Florida, so as to increase representation on the Board of Trustees by adding two (2)
members, one who is a lay member representing the general public, and another who is a
practicing attorney who is a member of, and will represent thereon, the Port St. Lucie Bar
Association.
2. The Board of Trustees of the Rupert J. Smith Law Library of St. Lucie County
should be comprised of a membership representing all major user groups of the law library.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby support and endorse an amendment to Chapter 2001-
326, Laws of Florida, so as to provide that the membership of the Board of Trustees for the
Rupert J. Smith Law Library of St. Lucie County, an independent district, be increased from
three (3) members to five (5) members, including a new member on behalf of the Port St.
Lucie Bar Association, and a second additional member to be appointed by the Friends of the
St. Lucie County Library Association, Inc.
2. The County Administrator is hereby directed to forward a copy of this
resolution to the St. Lucie County Legislative Delegation and the Chairman of the Board of
Trustees of the Rupert J. Smith Law Library of St. Lucie County, Florida.
After motion and second the vote on this resolution was as follows:
