A RESOLUTION CHANGING AND
DESIGNATING THAT PORTION OF WILCOX
ROAD LYING IMMEDIATELY EAST OF THE
FLORIDA EAST COAST RAILWAY RAIL
CROSSING AS A PRESERVE ACCESS ROAD
AND FURTHER DESIGNATING WILCOX
ROAD AS PART OF THE INDRIO BLUEWAY
BUFFER PRESERVE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida has made the
following determinations:
1. The Board of County Commissioners authorized a Grant Application to Florida
Communities Trust to purchase Indrio Scrub.
2. A condition of the application was to manage access to a planned canoe launch at the
eastern end of Wilcox Road. ~

3. In addition, the Board approved acquisition of the Indrio Blueway Buffer Preserve that a

lies between Wilcox Road and Michigan Street. ~ ~
4. The unpaved, dirt road is currently in poor condition. Dumping of trash and discharge ~

of weapons is a common practice along the one-half mile long road. Brazilian Peppers have also ~

5. Designating Wilcox Road as a Preserve Access. Road will allow for increased law

enforcement activities that are compatible with Preserve use and regulations.

6. In addition, use of the road would be limited to daylight hours only with a gate placed ~

immediately east of the Florida East Coast Railway Crossing. c.,
7. These measures will ensure that site visitation is a high quality experience, ensures that ~

wildlife is adequately protected, and exotics are removed as a potential seed source on adjacent m
preserves.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners ofSt.
Lucie County, Florida that this Board does hereby change and designate that portion of Wilcox Road
lying immediately east of the Florida East Coast Railway Rail Crossing and as a Preserve Access
Road and further, designating Wilcox Road as part of the Indrio Blueway Buffer Preserve.
After motion and second the vote on this resolution was as follows:
