RESOLUTION NO. 06-213
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE FLORIDA
AIRBOATERS FOR THEIR DEDICATION,
SACRIFICE AND COURAGE IN ASSISTING
THE GENERAL PUBLIC, LOCAL, STATE AND
FEDERAL AGENCIES IN THE SEARCH,
RESCUE AND RECOVERY OPERATIONS IN
THE AFTERMATH OF HURRICANE KATRINA
IN 2005
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. Airboats can offer many things to the general public such
as sightseeing, viewing animal and plant life in Florida's
Everglades, hunting, fishing and waterway assessments.
2. Airboaters see as part of their mission to assist local,
state and federal agencies in activities such as training,
evacua tions, search and rescue and recovery operations before,
during and after hurricanes, flooding emergencies and disasters.
3. Florida civilian airboaters demonstrated unselfish
sacrifice and humanitarianism in New Orleans by helping thousands
in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby commend the Florida Airboaters for
their dedication, sacrifice and courage in assisting the general
public, local, State and Federal Agencies in the search, rescue and
recovery operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
2. This Board hereby urges the citizens of St. Lucie County
to recognize the contribution that Florida Airboaters make to the
betterment of our community and the United States.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 11th day of July, 2006.
