A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE
OF JULY, 2006, AS "PARKS
RECREATION MONTH" IN ST.
COUNTY, FLORIDA
MONTH
AND
LUCIE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. The Parks and Recreation profession in St. Lucie County,
Florida, "Provides Customer - Focused Park and Recreation Services
That Meet the Needs of St. Lucie County Residents".
2. St. Lucie County parks help to preserve and protect the
natural and cultural resources of St. Lucie County, Florida.
3. Parks and Recreation services support more productive
workforces, enhance the desirability of locations for business and
families, and stimulate tourism revenues.
4. Parks and Recreation strengthens communi ty image and
sense of place, increases cultural uni ty, promotes heal th and
wellness and reduces health care costs.
5. Parks and Recreation fosters human development, helping
young people develop and grow into healthy adults, and helping
adults continue to live longer.
6. Parks and Recreation facilitates community problem
solving, strengthens safety and security, and reduces juvenile
crime.
7. Thousands of St. Lucie County children, adults and
seniors benefit from the wide range of services, facilities and
programs provided by the St. Lucie County Parks and Recreation
Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the Month of July, 2006,
as "PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board urges all residents to enjoy and recognize the
social, physical, mental, economic, environmental and community
benefi ts derived from St. Lucie County Parks, facilities and
recreation programs, which provide something of value to everyone.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 11th day of July, 2006.
