A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE NATIONAL
INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM {NIMS)AS
THE SYSTEM FOR PREPARING FOR AND
RESPONDING TO DISASTER INCIDENTS IN
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County commissioners of St. Lucie
county, Florida, has made the following determinations:
February 2003, established the National Incident Management system
Homeland security presidential Directive/HSPD-5,

(NIMS) .
2. The NIMS establishes a single, comprehensive approach to
domestic incident management to ensure that all levels of
government across the Nation have the capability to work
efficiently and effectivelY together using a national approach to
domestic incident management.
3. The NIMS provides a consistent nationwide approach for
Federal, State and local capabilities and includes a core set of
concepts, principles, terminology and technologies covering the
incident command system, unified command, training, management of
resources and reporting.
4. Beginning october 1, 2004 all Federal departments and
agencies shall make adoption of the NIMS a requirement, to the
extent provided by law,
for providing Federal preparedness
assistanCe through grants, contracts or other activities to local
governments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby adopt the National Incident
Management system (NIMS) as the system for preparing for and
responding to disaster incidents in St. Lucie County, Florida.
After motion and second the vote on this resolution was as
follows:

PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 22nd day of August, 2006.
