RESOLUTION NO. 06-287
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE THIRD
SATURDAY IN SEPTEMBER EACH YEAR AS
"BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS DAY FOR KIDS"
IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. The children of St. Lucie County are the foundation on
which our future success is built.
2. Children seek parents, mentors and friends to aid them in
reaching important goals.
3. Families and communi ties play vi tal roles in helping
children develop a positive self image, sense of belonging and a
sense of competence.
4, Boys and Girls Clubs Day for Kids is a special day set
aside each year (third Saturday in September) to encourage and
remind adults that the meaningful time they share with children is
important to their development.
5. The Boys & Girls Day for Kids Honor Roll, comprised of
Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and other leading youth serving
organizations, together reach millions of youth via their services
and community involvement.
6. Boys & Girls Clubs Day for Kids emphasizes the importance
of meaningful time spent with kids on this Day and every day, all
year long.
7. The Boys & Girls Clubs Day for Kids Honor Roll is working
to establish Boys & Girls Clubs Day for Kids on the national
calendar.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the Third Saturday in
September Each Year as "BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS DAY FOR KIDS" in St.
Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board encourages all citizens of St. Lucie County to
participate in this worthwhile event on Saturday, September 16,
2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Lyngate Park in Port St,
Lucie, Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 12th day of September, 2006.
