RESOLUTION NO. 06-380
A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MR.
MICHAEL J. LANNON ON BEING NAMED THE
"2007 FLORIDA SUPERINTENDENT OF THE
YEAR" AND EXPRESSING THE BOARD'S
APPRECIATION, ON BEHALF OF THE
CITIZENS OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FOR A
JOB WELL DONE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. Michael J. Lannon became Superintendent of Schools for
the St. Lucie County Florida Public School System in August, 2003.
2. Since 2001, Mr. Lannon has been President/Vice-President,
Secretary-Treasurer, and member of the Florida Association of
District School Superintendents where he currently sits as Vice-
President.
3. In 1990, Mr. Lannon became a member of the American
Association of School Administrators and currently sits on the
Governing Board,
4. Mr. Lannon has been a member, Board member, and currently
is Vice-President of the Urban Superintendents Association of
America.
5, Mr. Lannon has been member of the BellSouth Schlechty
Superintendents Leadership Network from 1997 to the present and has
been a member of the Florida High School Activities/Athletics
Association from 2000-2005 where he currently is a member of the
State Board.
6. Among other things, Mr, Lannon has been involved in
numerous Professional development activities and has been a
presenter at a number of seminars, etc.
7. The leadership and community organizations which Mr.
Lannon is a member include Rotary International; St. Lucie County
Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development Council; Governor's
Committee for a Sustainable Treasure Coast; Board member for St.
Lucie United Way; and Board member for Children's Services Council
of St. Lucie County.
8. Mr. Lannon is known as a leader for all children in all
circumstances. St. Lucie County Public Schools' mission statement
is "Every Child, Every Day"; and Mr. Lannon not only says he
believes it, he makes all decisions and recommendations based on
the needs of the child for today and in the future.
9, It has been said that "He (Mr. Michael J, Lannon) is a
key to defining and creating the future of St. Lucie County".
10. One can easily understand that Mr. Michael J. Lannon is
a man of integrity.
He is a dedicated, educated, concerned and
caring individual and as such, deserves the nomination and honor
recently bestowed upon him as the "2007 Florida Superintendent of
the Year".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby congratulate Mr. Michael J. Lannon
on being named the "2007 Florida Superintendent of the Year".
2. This Board does hereby further express its' appreciation
to Mr. Michael J. Lannon, on behalf of the citizens of St. Lucie
County, for a Job Well Done.
