HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-083 ctlR""",~ RESOLUTION NO. 07-083 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MARCH 13, THROUGH MARCH 19, 2007, AS "SURVEYORS' IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA 2007, WEEK" WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. Since the colonial days of this Nation, surveyors have been influential citizens and leaders of our country, and the role of the surveyor has been, and remains, of vital importance to the development of our country. 2. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln, former Presidents of the United States, served their fellow man as surveyors. 3. The citizens of St. Lucie County, Florida, recognize the valuable contributions of the surveying profession to history, and quality of life in St. Lucie County, Florida, the State of Florida, and the United States of America; and make important decisions based on the knowledge and expertise of licensed surveyors and mappers. 4. The surveying profession requires a four-year degree, the knowledge of mathematics, the related physical and applied sciences, and requirements of law for evidence. 5. Surveyors are uniquely qualified and licensed to determine and describe land and water boundaries for the management of natural resources and protection of private and public property rights. 6. The continual advancements in instrumentation have required the surveyor not only to be able to understand and implement the methods of the past, but also to learn and employ modern technology in finding solutions to meet the challenges of the future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: 1. This Board does hereby proclaim March 13, 2007, through March 19, 2007, as "SURVEYORS' WEEK" in St. Lucie County, Florida. 2. This Board does hereby recognize the many contributions and the continual dedication of surveyors to the citizens of St. Lucie County, the State of Florida, and the United States, PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 6th day of March, 2007.
