RESOLUTION NO. 07-076
A RESOLUTION HONORING MR. CHARLES C. HAYLING,
JR., WHO HAS BEEN CHOSEN AS "HISTORY MAKER" IN
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR EXEMPLIFYING
OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP THROUGH HIS MAJOR
CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR COMMUNITY IN THE FIELD OF
EDUCATION
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, has made the following determinations:
1. Mr. Charles C. Hayling, Jr., a Native of Tallahassee,
Florida, started his journey to education by matriculating at
Florida A&M Uni versi ty, Florida Atlantic Uni versi ty, New York
University, Hampton University, and the United States International
Universities.
2. Charles C. Hayling, Jr., after completing service in the
Air Force dedicated thirty-four years as a principal, twenty-four
as a College Educator, and always as a Community Leader.
3. Following his career as an Administrator and his constant
desire to lead young people to continue their education, he
organized and directed the Satellite Program for Bethune-Cookman
College here in Fort Pierce; and due to his untiring leadership,
this program has become highly successful for the past twenty-four
years.
4. Charles C, Hayling, Jr., is the Father of eight children,
five sons: Charles Cleaver, Carney DeI-Mario, Jason Lenard,
Roderick Craig, and Robert Rashad Hayling; three daughters: Melaine
Hayling, Sana Hayling, and MarIa Hayling.
He is also the proud
Grandfather of eight lovely Grandchildren.

Throughout his many
fruitful
years
of
dedicated
leadership he has served as President of Alpha Phi Alpha
Fraterni ty, Treasurer of Florida Elementary School Principals'
Association, Florida A&M University Alumni Association, Director of
Bato Ball Club, Session Board of Goodwill presbyterian Church. He
also served as Chairman of St. Lucie County Planning & Zoning
Board, and Director at the Lawnwood Regional Center and Heart
Institute.
6. Mr. Charles Hayling Jr' s. most outstanding accomplishrnent
has been his leadership in touching the lives of so many
individuals, especially young people and being able to see them
become productive citizens of our community.

He is truly a
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County:
1. This Board does hereby honor Mr. Charles Cleaver Hayling
Jr. who has been chosen as "HISTORY MAKER" in St. Lucie County,
Florida, for exemplifying outstanding citizenship through his major
contributions to our community in the field of education.
2. This Board encourages the citizens of St. Lucie County to
participate in honoring Mr, Charles Cleaver Hayling Jr., at a
dinner celebration to be held in conjunction with the National
Celebration of Black History Month at the pelican Yacht Club in
Fort Pierce, Florida, on Thursday evening, February 22, 2007,
beginning at 6:30 p.m.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 20th day of February, 2007.
