HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-069 RESOLUTION NO. 07-069 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 18, 2007, THROUGH FEBRUARY 24, 2007, AS "ENGINEER'S WEEK" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. National Engineer's Week was founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers as an annual event to raise public awareness of engineers and their accomplishments. 2. Engineers have used their scientific and technical knowledge and skills in creative and innovative ways to fulfill society's needs. 3. Engineers face the major technological challenges of our time - from rebuilding towns devastated by natural disasters to designing an information superhighway that will speed our country into this new century. 4. Engineers are encouraging our young math and science students to realize the practical power of their knowledge. 5. This Board believes that we will look more than ever to engineers and their knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of the future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: 1. This Board does hereby proclaim the week of February IS, 2007, through February 24, 2007 as "ENGINEER'S WEEK" in St. Lucie County, Florida. , PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 20th day of February, 2007.
