RESOLUTION NO. 07-102
A RESOLUTION HONORING MR. VERNON M.
DIXON, II WHO HAS BEEN CHOSEN FOR
HIS POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE TREASURE
COAST, AND REPRESENTING ST. LUCIE
COUNTY AS A YOUNG AFRICAN-AMERICAN
"MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR
COMMUNITY"
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. Mr. Vernon M. Dixon II is a native of St. Lucie County
and an entrepreneur in our community. He has had businesses in St.
Lucie County since he was sixteen years old.
2. After spending a short time away from St. Lucie County,
he returned and decided to invest in a part of the community that
had begun to decline.
He opened several businesses in the "D"
Street corridor and his efforts were reported in the press.
3. Mr. Dixon, along with others, helped to revitalize a once
thriving community. He has provided jobs and encourages others to
come back to their community to shop.
4. He is a Board member of the Love Center, Downtown Main
Street, a member of the Fort pierce Chamber of Commerce, and a
member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, that this Board does
hereby honor Mr. Vernon M. Dixon, II who has been chosen for his
positive impact on the Treasure Coast, and representing St. Lucie
County as a young African-American "MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR
COMMUNITY".
