A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH
OF JULY, 2007, AS "RECREATION AND
PARKS MONTH" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY,
FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. Parks and recreation programs enhance our quality of life
by contributing to a healthy lifestyle, increasing communication
skills, building self esteem, teaching life skills, and providing
places for enjoyment.
2. Parks and recreation programs boost the economy, enhance
property values, attract new business, increase tourism, and reduce
crime.
3. Recreation builds family unity, strengthens neighborhood
involvement, offers opportunity for social interaction, enhances
education, develops creativity, and promotes cultural diversity.
4. Our parks and trails ensure ecological beauty, provide
space to enj oy nature, help maintain clean air and water, and
preserve plant and animal wildlife.
5. Recreation, therapeutic recreation and leisure education
are essential to the rehabilitation of individuals who have been
ill or disabled.
6. The National Recreation and Park Association and the
Florida Recreation and Park Association designated July as
Recreation and Parks Month.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the month of July, 2007,
as "RECREATION AND PARKS MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board urges the citizens of St. Lucie County to
enjoy the recreation and parks throughout St. Lucie County during
the month of July, 2007, and all year.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 26th day of June, 2007.
