A RESOLUTION TO BE PRESENTED TO THE
FAMILY OF PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ANDRE
D. MCNAIR, JR., PROCLAIMING JULY 20,
2008, AS "PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ANDRE
D. MCNAIR, JR., DAY" IN ST. LUCIE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS A TRIBUTE TO
THIS FALLEN HERO WHO MADE THE
ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR FREEDOM
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St, Lucie
County, Florida, has made the following determinatiorts:
1, Andre McNair, Jr. grew up in Fort Pierce and graduated
from Westwood High School, Friends and Family describèd Andre as
being well liked, the kind of child you would want your own child
to be with. He was quiet, determined to be something in life, and
always had a pleasant smile on his face,
2, Andre was mechanically inclined, and wanted to join the
United States Army and specialize in auto mechanics.
He scored
well on an aptitude test and was convinced to go into aviation
mechanics instead of auto mechanics.
3. In June, 2006, right after high school, Andre joined the
United States Army as an equipment repairman and was assigned to
the 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 10pt Combat Aviation Brigade,
101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
4. Andre D. McNair, Jr. knew the true meaning of the word
PERSISTENT and never backed away from a challenge.

5. In December, 2007, PFC Andre D. McNair, Jr" received
orders to deploy to Afghanistan with his unit, and on January 31,
2008, he flew oversees. He worked long hours on helicopters and
planned to make a career out of the military so that he could
become a pilot,
6, PFCAndre McNair, Jr, received many military decorations
which included the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan
Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service
Ribbon, and the NATO Medal Former Republic of Yugoslavia,
7, On June 4, 2008, PFC Andre McNair celebrated his 20th
birthday and was so excited about his goal of becoming an Army
Pilot one day,
8, The next day, on June 5, 2008, the pilot in a Kiowa
Helicopter, along with PFC McNair were performing a test flight at
Kandahar Army Airfield in Afghanistan, when their helicopter went
down, Both the pilot and PFC Andre D, McNair, Jr, were killed from
injuries sustained from the crash, He is survived by his Mother,
Pam McNair; Father, Andre McNair; Brother, Artvin McNair; and Step-
Brother, Denard Thomas, He was 20,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St, Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim July 20, 2008, as
"Private First Class Andre D, McNair, Jr, Day" in St, Lucie County,
,
Florida, as a tribute to this fallen hero who made the ultimate
sacrifice for Freedom,
2. A copy of this resolution shall be presented to Mr. &
Mrs, Andre D, McNair, Sr" as a token of this Board's deepest
sympathy at the loss of their son, PFC Andre D, McNair, Jr" and in
sincere appreciation for his service to his country,
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 15th day of July ,,2008,
