RESOLUTION NO. 08-368
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING ODELL TOLSON
AND SCOTT ABBATE, FOR THEIR GALLANT
ACTION IN SAVING THE LIFE OF ANOTHER
HUMAN BEING DURING THE COURSE OF THEIR
WORKDAY ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2008
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has
made the following determinations:
1. On Monday, October 13, 2008, during the course of their normal workday,
Odell Tolson, St. Lucie County Mosquito Control District and Scott Abbate,
St. Lucie County Road & Bridge Department came upon a gentleman
attempting to commit suicide by hanging. They took the necessary steps
to thwart his suicide attempt and saved his life.
2. In recognition of their heroism, the St. Lucie County Fire District presented
both Mr. Tolson and Mr. Abbate with a Citizen Hero Award.
3. The Board believes that heroism such as that demonstrated by Mr. Tolson
and Mr. Abbate should be recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
Lucie County, Florida for itself and on behalf of the citizens of St. Lucie County, Florida,
does hereby commend Odell Tolson and Scott Abbate for their gallant action in saving
the life of another human being. A copy of this resolution shall be presented to Mr.
Tolson, and Mr. Abbate in sincere appreciation for their heroism.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 9th day of December, 2008.
