A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MR. DOUGLAS M. ANDERSON
FOR OVER THIRTEEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE
AS COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR AND ASSISTANT COUNTY
ADMINISTRATOR FOR ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. On January 9, 2009, Mr. Douglas M. Anderson will retire
from his position as County Administrator for St. Lucie County,
Florida, which he has held since January 21, 1997, having been
originally hired as Assistant County Administrator on July 5, 1995.
2. Mr. Anderson, in addi tion to his duties as the County
Administrator, served as the County's Port Director for over nine
years.
3. Mr. Anderson's notable achievements under his leadership
included the development and implementation of the "Investment for
the Future" to fund needed infrastructure; relocation of the St.
Lucie County Fairgrounds; construction of a new Special Needs
Shelter; construction of the new Emergency Operations Center;
acquisition of the St. Lucie County Logistics Center; renovation of
Tradition Field; creation of the Research and Education Park
Authori ty; negotiating an extension to the New York Mets Spring
Training agreement; creating the Citizens Budget Committee; and
instituting multi-year budgeting during these recent economic
difficulties.

Mr.
Anderson was also instrumental in working in
conjunction with the Economic Development Council, Port St. Lucie and
Ft. pierce to bring in businesses to relocate to the County including
QVC; WalMart Distribution Center; and Torrey pines Institute.
5. Mr. Anderson represented St. Lucie County on a variety of
local and statewide committees, including serving as Board Member or
Officer on the 911 Board of Governors; Enterprise Florida; Florida
Ports Council; Florida Association of Counties Enterprise Committee;
Florida Counties Foundation; Florida Seaport Transportation and
Economic Development, and many others.
6. Mr. Anderson should be especially recognized for his
outstanding service to the citizens of the County during the
hurricanes, where he provided the leadership required to get supplies
and services needed while providing necessary communication to calm
the community and return the County to normalcy as quickly as
possible.
7. In his 12 years as County Administrator, Mr. Anderson has
efficiently, competently, and untiringly served the Board of County
Commissioners and the citizens of St. Lucie County, and his integrity
is reflected by the high esteem and respect he is accorded by his
colleagues.
8. The first concern of Mr. Anderson has always been to carry
out the wishes and directives of the five-member Board of County
Commissioners. The position of County Administrator is a tiresome,
strenuous and often thankless one for anyone to undertake, but Mr.
Anderson has always undertaken his responsibili ties with pride,
pleasure, and dedication.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, for itself and on behalf
of the citizens of St. Lucie County, does hereby commend Mr. Douglas
M. Anderson for his over thirteen years of outstanding service as
County Administrator for St. Lucie County, and does hereby take this
opportunity to express its sincere appreciation and gratitude for a
job well done.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be
presented to Mr. Douglas M. Anderson as a token of this Board's
appreciation.
