A RESOLUTION HONORING MR. DOUGLAS M. ANDERSON
FOR EXEMPLIFYING OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP THROUGH
HIS MAJOR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR COMMUNITY IN THE
FIELD OF GOVERNMENT BY DEDICATING AND NAMING THE
NEW EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER ON MIDWAY ROAD AS
THE "DOUGLAS M. ANDERSON EMERGENCY OPERATION
CENTER" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida, has made the following determinations:
1. Mr. Douglas M. Anderson graduated from Jamestown Community
College in Jamestown, New York with an AAS Degree and continued his
education in Point Park college in pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he
graduated with a BS Degree in Business Management.
2. Douglas "Doug" Anderson moved from Jamestown, New York in
August 1990, and became County Manager for Clay County, Florida. On
July 5,
1995,
Doug Anderson was hired as Assistant County
Administrator for St. Lucie County; and was appointed as County
Administrator on January 21, 1997.
3. During his tenure as County Administrator, Mr. Anderson was
extremely instrumental in obtaining the Emergency Operation Center
Grant Funding through the State of Florida, Department of Community
Affairs, Division of Emergency Management.
4. Notable achievements under his leadership include the
development and implementation of the "Investment for the Future" to
fund needed infrastructure; relocation of the St. Lucie County
Fairgrounds; construction of a new Special Needs Shelter; acquisition
of the St. Lucie County Logistics Center; renovation of Tradition
Field; and the creation of the Research and Education Park Authority
to only mention a few.
5. Due to the untiring dedication by Mr. Douglas M. Anderson
to the citizens of St. Lucie County, this Board believes that Mr.
Anderson should be honored in a very special way.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, that this Board does
hereby honor Mr. Douglas M. Anderson for exemplifying outstanding
citizenship through his major contributions to our community in the
field of government by dedicating and naming the new Emergency
Operation Center on Midway Road as the "Douglas M. Anderson Emergency
Operation Center" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 6th day of January, 2009.
