HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-077RESOLUTION NO. 09-077 A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE OUTSTANDING SERVICE OF THE TREASURE COAST CHAPTER OF THE FLORIDA PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION AND CONGR.ATULATING THEM ON THEIR 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY SERVICE TO ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: l. The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) is the largest association for public relations professionals in the State of Florida, with nearly 1,500 members, and is the oldest state public relations association in the country, chartered in 1938. 2. The Florida Public Relations Association chartered the Indian River Chapter in June, 1984, and later re-named the local organization the Treasure Coast Chapter in 1988, one of fifteen chapters serving public relation professionals in Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin counties. 3. The Treasure Coast Chapter has been able to advance the profession of public relations, promote high professional and ethical standards and build the reputation of the profession on the Treasure Coast through members working in government, business, education, financial institutions, hospitals, non-profit organizations, media and more. 4. The Treasure Coast Chapter has provided twenty-five years of professional development and community service with such programs as its popular Media Conference, COMShop and other seminars, the Day of Unity following the 9/11 attacks, support of McKee Botanical Garden, a Day of Adoption through the Department of Children and Families; and public relations seminars on writing skills, media relations, social networking and more. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, that this Board does hereby recognize the outstanding service of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association and congratulates them on their 25th Anniversary of providing professional development and community service to St. Lucie County, Florida.
