A RESOLUTION PROHTBTTING RIGHT TURNS ON RED
FROM THE SHARED RIGHT TURN/THROUGH MOVEMENT
LANE FROM PRIMA VISTA BOULEVARD TO SOUTHBOUND
U.S. 1 'rN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucia County, Florida, has made
the following determinations:
1. Section 316.008(1)(I), Florida Statutes, authorizes the Board to regulate or
prohibit the turning of vehicles.
2. The Board adopted Ordinance No. 03-16 on May 6, 2003, creating Section 1-20-
6 (Turning Prohibition) of Article I, Chapter 1-20 (Traffic) of the Code of Ordinances of St.
Lucia County, which simplified the procedures for regulating or prohibiting the turning of
motor vehicles.
3. Due to the increase in traffic, the Road & Bridge Division of the Public Works
Department, in conjunction with the State of Florida Department of Transportation, has
recommended that right turns on red the shared right turn-through movement lane from
Prima Vista Boulevard onto 5outhbound U.5.! be prohibited.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
Lucia County:
1. Right turns on red by vehicles traveling east on Prima Vista Boulevard onto
Southbound U.5. 1 ore prohibited in the shared right turn-through movement lane.
2. The St. Lucia County Road and Bridge Manager is hereby directed to work with
the Florida Department of Transportation to accomplish these changes and post appropriate
signage.
3. The County Administrator is hereby directed to provide copies of this
resolution to the Sheriff of St. Lucia County and the St. Lucia County Road and Bridge
Manager.
