AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE VACATION OF A RIGHT
OF WAY KNOWN AS STANTON STREET NORTH OF AVENUE "M"
AS SHOWN ON THE PLAT OF MELTONS RIVERVIEW SUBDIVISION
AS RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK 9, PAGE 43, PUBI~IC RECORDS
OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, Stanton Street as shown in Meltons Riverview Sub-
division plat recorded in Plat Book 9, Page 43, Public Records.of St.
Lucie County was dedicated and accepted by the City of Fort Pierce on
the 31st day of October, 1952, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Pierce has expended no funds on
the improvement of said platted street, and
WHEREAS, a request has been received from the abutting owners

to vacate said Stanton Street, and . -
WHEREAS, investigations by the Director of Public Works, the
Director of Building and Zoning, the Director of Finance and the
Director of Engineering have concluded that the subject vacation would

WHEREAS, due to the excavation at the north end of Stanton
Street, a condition exists which is potentially hazardous and exposes
the City to unnecessary potential liability for_an accident.occurring

' therefrom, and

_ ~ WHEREAS, in consideration of the above, it is in the best

interest of the general welfare of the City of Fort Pierce to vacate
the aforementioned Stanton Street. -
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Commission of the
City of Fort Pierce, Florida:
SECTION 1. Stanton Street north of Avenue "M" as shown in
Meltons Riverview Subdivision plat recorded in Plat Book 9, Page 43,
of the Public Records of St. Lucie County is hereby vacated. .
~ SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be and become effective
