THIS CAUSS coming on this day to be heard upon the verified
petition for adoption filed in this cause, and it appearing to
the Court that the petitioner, PHARIS SMITH, is a fit and proper
person to adopt the minor child sought to be adopted and that the
best interests of the child will be promoted by.the adoption and
that the ch~.ld is suitable for adoption by petitioner, PHARIS SMITH,
and being otherwise fully advised in the premises, it is
~ ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that the consent to this adoption by the ~
natural father of the said child is excused, and that the minor
child known as CHRISTOPHER SCOTT SMITH is declared to be the legal
child of the petitioners, PHARIS SMITS and MARY C. SMITH, his wife, .
! and is given the name of CHRISTOP~R SCOTT SMITH by~which name he

shall hereafter be known; it is
FURTHER ORDERED AND ADJU~GED that this child shall be the
child and legal heir of the petitioners PHARIS SMITH and MARY C-
SMITH, his wife, entitled to all rights and privileges, and sub-
ject to all obligations, of a child born to the getitioners PHARIS
SMITH and.MARY C. SMITS, his wife, in lawful wedlock.
