A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING AUGU~
2,7, 2001, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2001,
ST. LUCIE COUNTY FIREFIGHT}
APPRECIATION WEEK" IN ST. LUC
COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie (
the following determinations:
1. Fighting fires is one of the most hazardous professions; re{
stamina, extensive training, courage, and selfless concern for the welfar~
2. In addition to their daily service to communities, firefighters
across the nation have joined the Muscular Dystrophy Association for th~
the 5~ht against neuromuscular diseases.
3. Florida firefighters collected a record breaking $1,106, 005.00
with their 2000 "Fill the Boot" campaign for MDA, holding the numl
rankings for funds collected.
4. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is extremely grateful
firefighters for their support and dedication.
5. The funds collected by the St. Lucie County firefighters assist 1~
services at local clinics, summer camp, research grants, support groul
seminars at no cost to local children and families.
6. In honor of the efforts of the St. Lucie County firefighters,
