HomeMy WebLinkAbout1435 Respondent was still tied up in Vero Beach at a hearing and it would be 11:45 A,M. before Respondent could be in Court iri St. Lucie County. Respondent finally appeared in person at 11:58 A. M. Respondent was then advised by the Court that a contempt hearing would be held for his non-appearance. After the trial of this cause, a hearing was held on these contempt proceedings and the above facts were recited to Respondent and he was advised that he should show cause why he should not be adjudged guilty of contempt and sentenced therefor. Respondent apologized to the Court and stated that"he was held up because of the unexpected length of the trial in Vero Beach. The non- appearance of the Respondent at the trial of this cause at 11:00 A.M. has unnecessarily caused the parties, the witnesses, the court reporter, the attorney for Plaintiff and the Court inconvenience, and impeded the efficient administration of justice. Said Respondent having shown no good cause why he should not be held in contempt, it is thereupon ORDERED and ADJUDGED that Osborne W. O'f~uinn is hereby -adjudged guilty of contempt of this Court for failure to appear on time at the trial"of this cause, and is sentenced to pay a i fine of 375.00, payable to the Clerk of Circuit Court in and for St. Lucie County, Florida, and an additional fine of 315.00 to be paid to attorney for Plaintiff to reimburse Plaintiff for a portion of the court reporter's fee for covering said trial. " Said fine to be paid no later than 2:00 P.M. on March 1, 1979. DONE and ORDERED in open court at Fort Pierce, St. Lucie County, Florida on the ay of March, 1979.
