LUCIE COUNTY IIHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. The Honorable L. A. Bafalis, fornier Member, United - States House of Repr~sentatives, has maintained a local office in St. Lucie County. 2. The conqressional district office in St. Lucie County has been of great assistance to local constituents in seeking informa- tion about or access to the various offices af the federal government. 3. The continued provision of adequate access to federal government is of vital concern to the more than 100,000 citizens of St. ~ Lucie County. particularly now when the County's unemployment rate is ~ the highest in the State and over twice the national and State-wide averages. 4. Adequate access to the federal government can only be provided to the citizens of St. Lucie County through the continued maintenance of a local office by their elected delegate to the United i - j States Nouse of Representatives. 5. The Honorable Tom Lewis, Member, United States House 4 of Representatives, has indicated that he intends to close the local I ~ office previously maintained in St. Lucie County. C 6. This Board should express its support for the retention ~ of a congressional district office in St. Lucie County, and should seek ~ similar expressions of support from the Cities of Fort Pierce and Port ~ St. lucie and from the Town of St. Lucie Village. ~ NOM, TNEREFORE.
