RESOLUTION NO. 01-292
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE
WEEK OF NOVEMBER 11, 2001, THROUGH
NOVEMBER 17, 2001, AS "VETERANS
AWARENESS WEEK" IN ST. LUCIE
COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
[lowing determinations:
1. On August 3,2001, the United States Senate unanimously passed Senate Resolution 143,
rating the week of November 11,2001, through November 17, 2001, as National Veterans
:ness Week. The resolution calls for educational efforts directed at elementary and secondary
students concerning the contributions and sacrifices of veterans.
2. National Veterans Awareness Week is meant to complement Veterans Day by focusing
cation as well as commemoration, on the contributions of the many in addition to the heroism
rvice of the individual. National Veterans Awareness Week also presents an opportunity to
~ ourselves of the contributions and sacrifices of those who have served in peacetime as well
~onflict; both groups work unending hours and spend long periods away from their families
conditions of great discomfort so that we all can live in a land of freedom and plenty.
3. In the wake of America's recent tragedy, there seems no better time to honor veterans.
ut the sacrifice made by veterans, we would not know America as it is today, or enjoy the

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the week of November 11,2001, through November 17,
2001.

2. This Board extends its' appreciation to each and every United States military man and
