RESOLUTION NO. 01-291
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING NOVEMBER
16, 2001, THROUGH NOVEMBER 22, 2001, AS
"FARM-CITY WEEK" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY,
FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
llowing determinations:
1. Since our earliest days as a nation, farmers have tilled the soil of this great land, feeding
families, other citizens, and people around the world. Over the years, our economy has
ed, but the American farm and ranch has remained a vital thread in the fabric of our lives.
2. Our nation was founded on values of hard work, faith, family and community. Those
still hold tree for farmers and ranchers.
3. By providing an abundant supply of safe, high-quality food and fiber, our farmers and
rs contribute to a quality of life in our country that is unmatched around the world.
4. Farmers and ranchers do not work alone. Farm workers, processors, shippers, truck
s, inspectors, agribusinesses, marketers, retailers and consumers all play important roles in the
[ible productivity of our nations's food and fiber system..
5. As we gather with family and friends around the Thanksgiving table, it is fitting that we
among our blessings the vital farm-city partnerships that have done so much to improve the
~ of our lives. Rural and urban communities working together have made the most of our rich
lmral resources, and they continue to contribute to the health and well-being of our people and
strength of our economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St.
County, Florida:

1. This Board does hereby proclaim November 16, 2001, through November 22, 2001, as

2. This Board urges the citizens of St. Lucie County in rural and urban areas to acknowledge
