HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-260RESOLUTION NO. 10-260 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2010 AS "NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: The arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives of all Americans and is an economic generator stimulating a healthy, vibrant, and growing nonprofit arts industry. 2. The arts and humanities affect every aspect of life in America including social problem- solving, job creation, education, creativity, and community livability. 3. Local institutions in St. Lucie County which foster and make accessible the work of artists, authors, dancers, musicians, poets and historians enhance the ability of our citizens to participate in a more civil society, uniting us in understanding and appreciating our diverse cultural heritage, and empowering us to imagine and create a shared vision for the future. 4. The month of October 2010 has been designated as National Arts and Humanities Month. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: This Board extends great appreciation to arts patrons who contribute to the arts directly through their donations, public service and leadership as members of boards of directors and trustees in St. Lucie County; and who contribute to the arts indirectly through their tax dollars. 2. This Board does also acknowledge with sincere gratitude the leadership and investment on the part of businesses and foundations who provide the arts with human, financial, and material resources. 2. This Board does hereby proclaim the month of October 2010 as "NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
