A RESOLUTION COMMENDING ST. LUCIE COUNTY EMPLOYEES' FOR
THEIR INCREASED SUPPORT OF THE 2010 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following
determinations:
1. Volunteerism, the fundamental fiberwhich has made America the most giving nation in the
world, is becoming even more vital.
2. The United Way of St. Lucie County is the backbone of this community's benevolent work.
3. The United Way is funding local agencies that serve the children, families, elderly, ill,
handicapped, abused and abandoned and is committed to meet those needs in 2011.
4. Giving just one dollar a week for an annual gift of $52 to the United Way provides enough
food to make five meals at a soup kitchen through the Treasure Coast Food Bank.
5. Despite no raises, staff losses and budget cuts, St. Lucie County employee participation to
the 2010 United Way Campaign increased from an average of 19% overthe past five years to 72~o because
employees stepped up and gave at least one dollar to the United Way Campaign in order to help members
of the community.
6. Receiving the Gold Medal Award for 100% participation is; Administration, Housing and
Community Services, and Parks, Recreation and Facilities. The Silver Medal Award for 55-75% participation
is awarded to: Environmental Resources Department, Office of Management & Budget, and Public Works.
The Bronze Award for 15-54%participation is bestowed upon: Human Resources, Planning & Development,
Public Safety and Mosquito Control.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida:
1. This Board does hereby commend St. Lucie County employees for their increased support
of the United Way Campaign in St. Lucie County, Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 20"' day of September 2011.
