A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SPEED LIMIT OFTHIRTY-
FIVE (35) MILES PER HOUR ON OLD DIXIE HIGHWAY (CR
605) FROM HARBOR BRANCH ROAD ROAD NORTH TO
THE NORTH PROPERTY LINE OF THE MARINE
OCEANOGRAPHIC ACADEMY SCHOOL IN ST. LUCIE
COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board ofCounty Commissioners ofSt. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following
determinations:
1. Section 316.008(1), Florida Statutes, authorizes the Board to designate speed limits, both
asto maximum and minimum, forstreets and highways under itsjurisdiction after investigation determines
such a change is reasonable and in conformity to criteria promulgated bythe Department ofTransportation.
2. The Road and Bridge Division of the Public Works Department of St. Lucie County has
recommended that a speed limit ofthirty-five (35) miles per hour be designated on both sides of Old Dixie
Highway from Harbor Branch Road northward to the North Property Line of the Marine Oceanographic
Academy. The Engineering Division and the Sheriff's Department have concurred with the
recommendation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County,
Florida:
1. A speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour is hereby established on both sides of Old
Dixie Highway from Harbor Branch Road northward to the North Property Line of the Marine
Oceanographic Academy.
2. The St. Lucie County Road and Bridge Manager is hereby directed to erect thirty-five (35)
miles per hour speed limit signs on both sides of Old Dixie Highway from Harbor Branch Road northward
to the North Property Line of the Marine Oceanographic Academy.
3. The County Administrator is hereby directed to provide copies of this resolution to the
Sheriff of St. Lucie County and to the St. Lucie County Road and Bridge Manager.
After motion and second, the vote on this resolution was as follows:
