A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY,
FLORIDA AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING ATLAS FORA 36.18 ACRE PARCEL OF
LAND OWNED BY ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FROM AG-1 (AGRICULTURAL - 1 DU/ACRE) TO I
(INSTITUTIONAL) ZONING DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, based on
testimony and evidence, including, but not limited to the staff report, has made the following
determinations:
St. Lucie County has initiated amendments to the Official Zoning Atlas fora 36.18-acre
parcel of public property owned by the St. Lucie County from the AG-1 (Agricultural, -
1 du/acre) to I (Institutional) zoning district, consistent with the existing use of the
Lakewood Regional Park.
2. On October 18, 2012, the St. Lucie County Planning and Zoning Commission held a
public hearing on the petition, of which due notice was published in the St. Lucie News
Tribune and recommended that the Board of County Commissioners approve the
change in zoning
3. On May 7, 2013, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida,
held a public hearing of which due notice was published in the St. Lucie News Tribune.
4. The proposed change in zoning satisfies the requirements of Section 11.06.03 of the
St. Lucie County Land Development Code and is consistent with the goals, objectives,
and policies of the St. Lucie County Comprehensive Plan.
5. The proposed change in zoning is consistent with the existing and proposed use of the
property and the surrounding area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
A. The proposed amendments to the Official Zoning Atlas for fora 36.18-acre parcel of
public property owned by the St. Lucie County from the AG-1 (Agricultural - 1 du/acre)
to I (Institutional) zoning district for property depicted in Exhibit "A" is approved.
B. The Planning and Development Services Director is hereby authorized and directed to
cause the change to be made on the Official Zoning Atlas of St. Lucie County, Florida,
and to make notation of reference to the date of adoption of this Resolution.
C. This Resolution shall be recorded in the Public Records.
