HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-021RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF FLORIDA PUBLIC HEALTH IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. The yellow fever epidemic that occurred in Florida during 1887-1888 brought to light the need for control of this and other diseases in Florida to prevent future epidemics. 2. In response to this need, the Florida Legislature created the State Board of Health on February 20, 1889. 3. The State Board of Health, now named the Florida Department of Health, has a presence in all Florida counties to protect, promote,,and improve the health of all people in Florida. 4. The dedicated public health professionals who work for the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County continue to serve the needs of our community by providing health services, monitoring, and responding to emerging health threats, and promoting healthy choices for all who live, work and play in St. Lucie County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County do hereby recognize the 125t'' Anniversary of Florida Public Health, and ask that all residents join us in extending our sincere gratitude to the staff, past and present, of the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County for their commitment to the people of our communities during these one hundred and twenty-five years.
