HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-045RESOLUTION NO. 14-045 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL 5, 2014 AS "ELDER CARE DAY" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. More than 1,000 youth in St. Lucie County will join with their friends, peers and community volunteers to take part in a day of service. 2. As part of the Jefferson Awards 360 Challenge, more than 50 employees and volunteers of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County will undertake cone-day project that benefits the community and reinforces the Boys & Girls Club commitment to youth development, with focus on Good Character and Citizenship. 3. Approximately 1,000 youth and volunteers will be focusing their efforts on a day of elder care. 4. 300 youth and volunteers will be spending quality time with senior citizens throughout St. Lucie County, engaged in story telling, performing arts, board games, and good old fashion talking in order to bring joy to the elderly and a smile to the faces of elderly in St. Lucie County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: This Board does hereby proclaim April 5, 2014, as "ELDER CARE DAY" in St. Lucie County, Florida and urge all citizens to join together in order to give back to our community.
