A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2014 AS
"NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH"
IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has
made the following determinations:
1. National Arts and Humanities Month is the nation's largest annual celebration of
the arts and humanities, acoast-to-coast collective celebration of culture in
America.
2. The arts and humanities embody much of the accumulated wisdom, intellect,
and imagination of humankind.
3. The arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives of every American by
encouraging the expression of emotions, the exploration of ideas and the
appreciation of cultures from around the world.
4. Arts industries strengthen our economy by generating economic activity and by
supporting jobs.
5. The month of October has been recognized as National Arts and Humanities
Month since 1993 by thousands of arts and cultural organizations, communities
and states across the country, as well as by the President and Congress.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners
of St. Lucie County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the month of October 2014 as "NATIONAL
ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 7th day of October 2014.
