A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2014
AS "NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH"
IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board ofCounty Commissioners ofSt. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
I. For more than a century, Children's Home Society ofFlorida has upheld our legacy of
transforming the lives ofchildren and families.
J. On any given day, approximately 125'175 children are awaiting adoptions on the
Treasure [oast and in the last three years over 35Ochildren have been given the gift of
forever families.
3. Children's Home Society ofFlorida, Treasure Coast Division, works diligently with the
Department of Children Q^ Families to ensure that every child has a forever family.
4. Children waiting for adoptive parents and families who have adopted these children
require and deserve community and agency support.
5. Children's Horne Society of Florida, along with its community partners, embraces
opportunities that can potentially change the way society cares for children and youth.
NOWTHEREFORE, BE0FRESOLVED bvthe Board ofCounty Commissioners ofSt.
Lucie County, Florida:
l. This Board does hereby pnodeinn the month of November 2014 as "NATIONAL
ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board encourages community agencies, religious organizations, business and
others tocelebrate adoption, honor families that grow through adoption, further an
awareness of the changes and issues in adoption, and focus attention on those children
who live in the shadow of an uncertain future while they await forever families.
