A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING DAVID P. KELLY
FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE AS PLANNING MANAGER
TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA AND HIS
CONTRIBUTION TO THE ENVIRONMENTALLY SIGNIFICANT LANDS PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
1. David Kelly served as a Planner under the County's first Development Director from June 2, 1980
through March 11, 1985, returning on May 4, 1992 and subsequently serving as the County's
Planning Manager from 1994 through his retirement in 2007.
As Planning Manager David promoted long range planning including the Environmentally
Significant Lands Bond Referendum. Upon approval of the $20 million bond fund, David served as
staff to the Environmentally Significant Land Acquisition Committee and the County's
Environmentally Significant Lands program.
3. David was dedicated to the protection of natural resources and to the provision of passive
recreational opportunities offered through the implementation of the County's Environmentally
Significant Lands program and other planning efforts, such as the bicycle and pedestrian program
and greenways and trails planning.
4. David's contributions to the County furthered the public good and improved the quality of life for
all residents and visitors to St. Lucie County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, in a meeting assembled this 16th day of December, 2014 that
the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, for itself and on behalf of the citizens of
St. Lucie County express its sincere appreciation and gratitude for David P. Kelly's service and
contributions to improving the quality of life in St. Lucie County and wish to recognize his contributions
through the installation of the David P. Kelly Gazebo to be installed and maintained on the R. E. Becker
Preserve at Ten Mile Creek in St. Lucie County, Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be presented to Susan Kelly as a
token of this Board's appreciation.
