HomeMy WebLinkAbout15-048RESOLUTION NO. 15-048 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF APRIL 2015 AS "GUARDIAN AD LITEM MONTH" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. The County of St. Lucie prides itself on giving back to the community, contributing to the quality of life among our citizens. 2. April has been designated National Child Abuse Prevention Month. 3. April 12th through April 18th has been designated as national volunteer appreciation week. 4. The Guardian ad Litem Program is a partnership of volunteers and staff who advocate for the best interest of abused, abandoned and neglected children within our community. 5. There are approximately 650 children in St. Lucie County involved in the court system through no fault of their own. 6. There are approximately 250 abused, abandoned or neglected children in St. Lucie County currently waiting for a volunteer Guardian ad Litem to be their voice. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida: 1. This Board does hereby proclaim the month of April 2015 as "GUARDIAN AD LITEM MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida. 2. This Board urges all residents of St. Lucie County to give of their time to make a difference in the lives of most vulnerable children by volunteering with the Guardian ad Litem Program.
