A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF APRIL 2015 AS
"CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made
the following determinations:
1. CASTLE has upheld our legacy of protecting the lives of abused children.
2. CASTLE works diligently with the Department of Children & Families to ensure
that every child suffering from abuse has a brighter future and hope for a safe
life.
3. Children who have suffered abuse or neglect are at least 25% percent more
likely to experience problems such as delinquency, teen pregnancy, low
academic achievement, drug use, and mental health problems.
4. CASTLE, along with its community partners, embraces opportunities that can
potentially change the way society cares for children and youth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
1. This Board does hereby proclaim the month of April 2015 as "CHILD ABUSE
PREVENTION MONTH" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
2. This Board commends the staff and volunteers of CASTLE for their continuing
work in assisting families in need of their services as we all strive to diminish child abuse and its
lasting impacts on our community.
