HomeMy WebLinkAbout15-190bRESOLUTION NO. 15-190-B A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 07-77 TO ESTABLISH REGISTRATION FEES FOR DANGEROUS DOGS AND AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the following determinations: 1. On April 3, 2007, the Board adopted Resolution No. 07-77 which established a fee schedule animal and breeder registration. 2. On August 12, 2014, the Board adopted Ordinance No. 14-020 which recodified the St. Lucie County Code of Ordinances and Complied Laws, including but not limited to Chapter 1-4 which was recodified as Chapter 6. 3. On September 15, 2015, the Board adopted Ordinance No. 15-12 which further amended Chapter 6, "Animals", of the St. Lucie County Code of Ordinances and Compiled Laws in the areas of dangerous dog classification, aggressive animal classification, animal care standards and guard registration and care. 4. It is appropriate and necessary to amend the animal registration fee schedule to establish fees for the registration of dangerous dogs and aggressive animals. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, Resolution No. 07-077, is further amended as follows: 1. The following fee schedule shall apply for issuance of animal registration/identification tags pursuant to Chapter -1-4 6 St. Lucie County Code of Ordinances: A. Sterilized cat or dog — (1) $10.00 annual fee per animal (2) $25.00 lifetime fee per animal B. Multiple sterilized pets/one owner— (1) First sterilized cat or dog - $10.00 annual fee, $25.00 lifetime fee (2) Second sterilized cat or dog - $8.00 annual fee, $20.00 lifetime fee (3) Third sterilized cat or dog - $6.00 annual fee, $15.00 lifetime fee C. Sterilized cat or dog with senior Exemption - $7.50 annual fee per animal (proof of owner's current additional homestead exemption for person 65 and older pursuant to SeGtien 1 'o' Qc 42-75, St. Lucie County Code or Ordinances, required at time of issuance). D. Non -sterilized cat or dog - $75.00 annual fee per animal. E. Non -sterilized cat or dog with veterinarian certificate indicating animal's health or age prevents sterilization - $10.00 annual fee per animal Page 1 of 2 F. Breeder's registration - $100.00 annual fee. G. Replacement tag - $5.00 per tag. H. Dangerous dog - $100.00 annual fee. 1. Aggressive animal - $100.00 annual fee. 2. The remainder of Resolution No. 07-77 shall remain in full force and effect. 3. This resolution shall take effect upon the date of adoption.
