A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 9, 2016 AS
"CHILD WELFARE PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION DAY" IN ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie County, Florida, has made the
following determinations:
Children are Florida's most precious resource and our promise for a bright future.
Florida's child welfare professionals are responsible for ensuring that our children live free
from maltreatment, enjoy long-term, secure relationships within strong families and
communities, are physically and emotionally healthy, and socially competent, and that
families nurture, protect, and meet the needs of their children, and are well integrated into
their communities.
3. Florida's child welfare professionals build rapport and trust with the family and people who
know and support the family, empower family members by seeking information about their
strengths, resources and proposed solutions, and demonstrate respect for the family as the
family exists in its social network, community and culture.
4. Florida's child welfare professionals form partnerships with family members and people who
know and support the family, partner and share information with relative caregivers and
foster and adoptive parents, and lead and facilitate partnership with all involved parties to
achieve optimum communication, clear roles and responsibilities, and mutual accountability
while including parent and other caregivers in case decision-making.
5. Florida's child welfare professionals make lasting contributions and are sincerely dedicated
to improving the lives of all children.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Lucie
County, Florida:
This Board does hereby proclaim May 9, 2016 as "CHILD WELFARE PROFESSIONALS
RECOGNITION DAY" in St. Lucie County, Florida.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED this 3`d day of May 2016.
